About  Lumina

At Lumina Behaviour Support, we believe support should do more than manage behaviour, it should create space for growth, progression, and the opportunity to truly thrive.

Lumina is a South Australian company grounded in a neuro‑affirming, strengths‑based approach, where difference is respected and individuality is celebrated. We place the participant and their family at the centre of everything we do, recognising that they are the true experts in their own lives. Our role is not to override lived experience, but to listen, understand, and walk alongside people in ways that feel safe, respectful, and empowering. we focus on achieving outcomes that are meaningful, sustainable, and grounded in real life — not just plans on paper.

At its core, Lumina exists to support people to live fuller, more connected lives, where strengths are nurtured, quality of life is prioritised, and progress is defined by what matters most to the individual.

Our support Pathways

Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support at Lumina is built on understanding behaviour as communication, with a clear focus on improving quality of life, not just reducing behaviours of concern.
Our support is person‑centred and responsive, shaped around each individual’s strengths, goals, and evolving needs.

Education and Training

Education and Training at Lumina builds confidence and consistency by equipping staff, parents, carers, and stakeholders with a clear understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support plan and how it works in everyday practice, supported by ongoing professional guidance that adapts as needs change.

Developmental Skill Building

Developmental Skill Building at Lumina focuses on supporting people to develop practical, meaningful skills that enhance independence, confidence, and everyday quality of life. Supports are person‑centred and tailored, building on individual strengths and delivered in ways that are responsive to each person’s goals, environment, and pace of development.

Individual Assessments and Reports

Individual Assessments and Reports at Lumina are thorough, evidence‑based, and centred on understanding the person behind the behaviour. Each assessment is person‑centred and tailored, capturing strengths, needs, and environmental factors to produce clear, practical reports that support meaningful outcomes and improved quality of life.

About me

My name is Scott Murphy, and I am a qualified Social Worker with a long‑standing background in the human services sector, working alongside people who are often marginalised or disadvantaged.

After spending time in executive leadership roles, I chose to return to direct practice, where my passion truly lies—working on the ground with people and supporting meaningful, lasting change.

I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. My practice is grounded in a neuro‑affirming, strengths‑based approach, with a strong focus on quality of life. I have consistently evidenced that when people experience greater autonomy, connection, and purpose, behaviours of concern naturally reduce.

With over eight years of experience in Positive Behaviour Support, working with some of the most complex cases in the state, I value challenge and thoughtful practice. I am endorsed as an Advanced Practitioner under the Capability Framework, reflecting my commitment to ethical, evidence‑based, and person‑centred support.

I am deeply mindful of the trust placed in this work and feel privileged to support individuals and their loved ones in ways that are respectful, empowering, and meaningful.
